Finding Ads
What a Finding Ad is and why you would want one
Since
1999, the orphanages in China are required to run a provincial newspaper
advertisement for children that are found and brought to their orphanage.
We call them "Finding Ads." These ads contain information about
where and when the children were found and which orphanage is caring for
them. Originally these were text-only ads, but most provinces now include
photographs in their ads. These photographs are usually the earliest available
pictures of the children, some from as young as a few weeks old. The photos
at left show my daughter's referral picture at 14 months old and her Finding
Ad at 4 months old from Guangdong Province.
I have obtained many of the newspapers that contain Finding Ads for children adopted after June 1999 in the provinces listed below. I am actively working to obtain ads for other provinces and will update this site when they become available. For more information, read our Frequently Asked Questions about Finding Ads.
The cost of the finding ad is about $35; final cost will depend on whether the ad has a photo and if a newspaper with the ad is available.
Our high standards and dedication
• Research-China is the only source that reproduces the Finding Ads from the original newspapers. Others use photocopies and send scans via e-mail to you. Don't settle for poor reproductions of something so important for your child's lifebook. In addition, we often have extra copies of the actual newspaper in which your child's ad appeared, allowing you to obtain an original copy of your child's Finding Ad.
• In addition, by purchasing your child's ad through Research-China, I will let you know if I am heading to your child's orphanage city. You also will be notified of future research offerings related to your child's orphanage city, including DVDs and photographs of the city, information on foster families, or other important information. You simply never know what we will turn up in our travels.
